Architects design floating house for New Orleans

Nassar Saebi, developer of Saebi Alternative Building System [SABS], which was used for the floating foundation. 

The base of the home, which is made from expanded polystyrene foam coated in fibreglass-reinforced concrete, is shipped whole from the factory and can support different styles of house. "This innovative base, or chassis, integrates all mechanical, electrical, plumbing and sustainable systems, and securely floats in case of flooding," the architects say.
